Biosafety Cabinet (BSC Class II)
Microbiology Room Equipment: High-Accuracy Biosafety Cabinet
In a high-stakes microbiology laboratory, the Biosafety Cabinet (BSC Class II) is the primary structural barrier between the researcher and hazardous biological agents. Metrolabs provides high-accuracy BSC Class II units engineered to provide a sterile environment for the sample while ensuring absolute safety for the operator and the surrounding facility.
Our cabinets are built with a “Zero-Ledge” philosophy and surgical-grade materials to ensure long-term performance and seamless decontamination.
The Triple Layer of Protection
A Class II BSC is a specialized ventilated cabinet that utilizes a high-accuracy airflow regime to provide three levels of protection:
Personnel Protection
The cabinet creates an "Air Curtain" at the front opening. This high-velocity inward airflow prevents bio-aerosols generated during research from escaping into the laboratory, protecting the researcher from accidental exposure
Environmental Protection
Before air is exhausted back into the room or into the facility's HVAC Ducting, it passes through a secondary HEPA Filter (H14). This ensures that 99.997% of all particulates and microbes are captured, keeping the broader "Clean Shell" of your facility safe.
Product (Sample) Protection
The work zone is continuously bathed in a downward, unidirectional (laminar) flow of HEPA-filtered air. This Grade A air sweeps away any potential contaminants, ensuring that your cultures and reagents remain 100% sterile.

Engineering & Material Excellence
Metrolabs cabinets are designed to withstand the rigorous sterilization protocols of pharmaceutical and clinical research.
Surgical-Grade Construction: The internal work zone is fabricated from a single sheet of SS 316L. We utilize deep-drawn, coved corners to eliminate joints where bacteria or fungi could colonize.
VHP Compatibility: All gaskets, viewing panels, and internal surfaces are tested to remain stable during intensive Vaporized Hydrogen Peroxide (VHP) sterilization cycles.
Ergonomic Front Sash: The toughened safety glass is sloped at a $10^\circ$ angle to reduce glare and provide the researcher with high-accuracy visibility during delicate pipetting or dissection.
Integrated UV-C Logic: Features a germicidal UV lamp with a safety interlock system—ensuring the lamp only activates when the sash is fully closed to protect personnel from radiation.
The Metrolabs Advantage
We focus on the high-accuracy fabrication required to integrate your BSC into your broader Modular Cleanroom Panels.
Flush-Mount Options: For advanced facilities, we offer cabinets that can be integrated directly into the wall system to eliminate external dust-collecting ledges.
Custom Exhaust Systems: We can configure your BSC for “Type A2” (recirculating) or “Type B2” (total exhaust) operation depending on whether you are working with volatile chemicals alongside biological agents.
Technical Insight: To maintain the safety curtain, researchers should avoid rapid arm movements and ensure that the Air Grilles at the front and rear of the work tray are never blocked by equipment. This ensures the laminar airflow remains unidirectional and the protective air barrier is never breached.
